Before.....and AFTER!

As you know, I bought fabric for new valances in my classroom and here's what happened...

I decided...

I decided that I didn't want to use either of the fabrics I posted the other day (on my valances). After probably an hour at the store, I finally decided that this was THE ONE:

I also decided that there weren't enough owls in my classroom, but now there are...

And apparently there wasn't enough vinyl so I put up some more of that:

 And some more...

I am really excited because my classroom is finally clean and not cluttered (for the most part...I still have some things I need to go through).

A little bit of what's been happening in my classroom....

Gotta Love Vinyl
My discipline Method

And more vinyl...

My owl hall passes

This is where my students will choose their lunch for the day

My insanely cute owl chalkboard....Thanks Mom!

I hung all these owls in the hallway, each with the name of one of my students written on them.
Today I organized all of my books by difficulty. It sure was a daunting task that took forEVER!

My kids have tables instead of desks so under the kiva, I created a "desk" for each of them to put their things.

Why am I posting two random pieces of fabric do you ask? Well...this is my current dilemma. I decided that the valances in my classroom have got to GO so I am going to replace them. As of now, it looks like it is between these two. I know it's sad, but I just might lose sleep over this.

My first true project in my classroom!

I have decided that I will be doing the Daily 5 in my classroom this year. If you are also interested in doing this in your classroom you can find the Daily 5 Guide for Dummies here. I have decided that I am going to print out this guide and get it bound. This is a really good guide because it helps you implement this program into your classroom day by day.

My true reason for this post is to show you my first major project in my classroom:

I am going to use these numbered book holders for the daily 5 where my students will keep the things they are working on. Students will be assigned a classroom number based on alphabetical order which will determine which book holder is theirs. To snag yourself some of these numbered labels you can go here!

Welcome to my blog! *FREEBIE ALERT*

Thank you for stopping by! Let me take some time to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Dahl and I will be starting my very first teaching job this fall (1st grade). Having graduated in April, I am thrilled to already have a classroom of my own! I currently reside in a small town in Idaho with my husband who is currently finishing up his degree. We have been married for 3 years now and have loved every minute of it. Our hobbies include mountain biking, watching movies, and hanging out with family and friends!

The first day of school is in 5 weeks from tomorrow! I haven't been able to get into my classroom this month because of maintenance, but when August 1st hits, I will be hitting the ground running!  I have decided that I will be doing an owl theme in my classroom and have done a lot of thinking and searching for the best decorations for the lowest prices. I will post some of these gems later!

A while back when I got offered the job, I tweaked a document that I found on TPT to make it more "me". If you would like to download it for FREE, click here. Go for it...it's OWL themed!
